The First of It's Kind: Darcy's Rocket Rippers Chilliwack Card Show (Chilliwack Events)
The first ever card show to be hosted in Chilliwack was an all-weekend affair that ran through both Saturday and Sunday, and it was a major hit that is sure to bring the card show scene deeper into Chilliwack.
Despite the bustling community of collectors in Chilliwack, the city never had a single card show or collectibles show like this one until now. The event was hosted at the spacious Evergreen Hall, which provided an incredible atmosphere that was welcoming to people of all ages and those who were on budgets from small to large.
Rocket Rippers was much more than just a card show. It was a full blown community spectacle with a variety of vendors that included collectibles, rare toys, comics, VHS and books, sports cards, and more. The variety within the booths for both Saturday and Sunday made for a great shopping, trading, and browsing experience, and a high-profile lineup of vendors with valuable cards made the show quite the sight.
Some of the most unique booths throughout the weekend included hockey figures, Hot Wheels, and 90's products like books and physical media as well as toys. The mixed content throughout the show meant that it was a space for more than just card collectors, and vendors of all kinds were more than welcome to situate their stock at a table and work at the show for either one day or the entire weekend.
Alongside unique products, various different media figures were present at the event such as Whatnot sellers, content creators (like Lord Darcy, who was also the one behind the event), and voice actors from Pokétoon. This meant that there were various different unique experiences to be had throughout the event - which made for an even more memorable event.
On Saturday, voice actors for both Pikachu and Charizard were present at the event. These high-profile voice actors were signing cards and other items for a very low and affordable cost, with their own table to interact with fans and be present throughout the entire event. Sunday had the voice actress for Pikachu at the table on her own, meaning that fans could visit her exclusive table for chats, signings, and photos.
For those who were present throughout the entire event, food and drink were constantly available at the canteen. From homemade pasta salad to hot dogs, burgers, and dirt pudding, the canteen was stacked with exceptional food and great service that was done with smiles and kindness. The experience of the event felt even more like a summer day with the addition of food, and it made sure that everyone there was taken care of and fed. It's rare that you can get a great, affordable meal and incredible Pokémon cards all in one place, but Rocket Rippers was not your average card show - and it might just be one of the biggest trendsetting events that Chilliwack has had in a considerable amount of time.It was clear to see that the card show was an absolute hit with the people of Chilliwack, and it brought in a considerable amount of people. For a first-time event, it felt like everyone involved had been doing shows in Chilliwack for years - with massive props going to the promotion, organization, and management of the event. The event was managed exceptionally well with the way it was organized being striking and standing out; which made sure that people were in attendance.
Rarely do you find an event that is so well-organized, but the Rocket Rippers card show was a rare event that showcased the true eye for collectibles and trends that everyone involved has. The generosity of vendors as well as the kind acts exchanged was an incredible thing to be a part of, and these card shows are sure to happen much more often considering how well this one did.
This particular card show drew in heaps of excited people, with every person at the show being highly enthusiastic and excited about the event. It has led to groups of people already asking when the next one is - and it's clear to see that this will not just be a one-time event, meaning that if you missed out on this weekend, you're sure to see more and more card shows and events hosted by Darcy in the near future.
There was no better place to be this weekend, and with the hot sunny weather, why not visit a card show? It was the perfect place to socialize, meet people, and purchase/sell either cards or collectibles. The atmosphere within the Evergreen Hall during the event was bustling with socialization and kind interactions, with young card enthusiasts often being given cards and other items for free. Vendors at the event were constantly performing good deeds that stemmed from the love of both the community and hobby, and it was a truly beautiful sight to see so much kindness in one event.
Hobby enthusiasts from toddlers to seniors were able to enjoy the Rocket Rippers card show, with Pokémon, sports, comic, and collectibles fans all coming together to relish in a bustling atmosphere packed full of unique and kindhearted vendors. Each and every person involved with sale tables were exceptional salespersons, and it was a great place to purchase or sell items.
The event provided an inclusive space welcoming to people of all kinds, showcasing how unifying hobby can be for so many different kinds of people. Everyone was welcome throughout the Rocket Rippers card show - and it was clear to see.
Being able to work at this card show talking to the community, browsing, and helping with a table as well as selling cards of my own was a true honour, and it was an incredible feel-good event that brought great vibes to a warm spring weekend in Chilliwack.
Rocket Rippers was one of the best displays of the Chilliwack community in all forms that the city has had in a long time - and you should be sure to look out for even more upcoming events that can bring so many distinct groups of people together. It was an incredibly enjoyable event that was focused on quality, quantity, and unity - and it was a deeply successful feat thanks to everyone involved.
