Mid-Week Madness at the Chill House: Castle Make Their Chilliwack Tour Stop Alongside Chûnk and Horse
Thursday was a great evening for a mid-week Chill House show, and the venue had some unique rock and metal acts to bring life into a regular weekday. It was a great night for those who were able to make it out, and it was an all ages crowd that drew from many different age groups and demographics.
It was a chilly, yet sunny spring day that made for a perfect Chill House atmosphere, and the relaxed and deeply social atmosphere was something definitive of the venue.
The three-band lineup made for a great variety of heavy music to supply the community with, and the last-minute addition of local Chilliwack band Horse was a great way to make the lineup feel even more complete and welcoming. The creative and unique bands made sure to give their all to the Chill House - and seeing both familiar faces and new names was a true sight to behold.
Castle are currently embarking on their tour throughout Canada, with this show marking one of many stops that the band will make throughout the spring 2026 tour.
This loud, amazing lineup of talented bands that were slotted for the night worked to create something memorable and enjoyable for everyone who came out to the Chill House, and it was an all-rounder show that was well worth attending.
Longer sets ran the night while the show wound up closing off at a great time, and it was a hugely community-based show that brought together the true spirit of the Chill House in order to make for a show that would stick.

Horse opened up the night with a familiar and enjoyable set that blended new material from the band with classic favorites from their time performing throughout the Fraser Valley. This was an incredibly familiar and enjoyable set for me, as it gave me a taste of the summer of last year - where Horse were the first local band I had ever seen while they opened for Assailant.
The local Chilliwack mixed-genre screamo band is made possible by a young selection of talents that make up the band, and each member brings their unique and talented qualities to the stage with every performance they put on, with this last-minute set showcasing their skills and making for a very enjoyable opening performance.
As expected from one of the young local music groups, the band drew in a crowd of some excited fans that had come specifically to support the band and its members. This meant that the show had even more support with the last-minute addition of Horse, and the band made sure to put on a worthwhile show within their shorter set.
Their set had a great, early start - making sure that the show was started off at a good time and that each band could have their spotlight without the show going on too late. The diverse sound that was found throughout Horse's set had a great amount of depth and variety, and the band made sure to give all of their energy into showcasing their sound, style, and stage presence. The band was immediately infectious through crowd interaction and movement on the stage, with the primary vocalist of the band making sure to be constantly active within the stage to make the band look and feel much bigger than they already are - showing an exceptional amount of potential while making sure to reign in their skillset and perform a clear and organized set despite gaps in songs.
Skilled raw vocals and a very riffy sound that was deeply reminiscent of 2000’s post-hardcore made their set stand out from the other bands on the lineup - and this variety is something that made this show so truly worthwhile in every way.
Catchy songs are something that can always make a live set feel much more immersive - and catchy tracks is something that Horse constantly brings to the table. It's clear that they know how to sequence their songs exceptionally well, and it makes them incredible live performers through-and-through.
It's clear to see that the band has been practicing, and their unique sound had experimentation and cohesion that bands rarely ever display in the way that Horse did during this Chill House set.
The band's raw, emotional sound helped to ground the night and build up the heavy rock atmosphere, and their screamo sound is something that you don't get often in Chilliwack. Their sound is even more skilled than what you might expect - and they're one of the most worthwhile bands in Chilliwack when it comes to truly local bands.
Overall, Horse played an incredibly enjoyable set with both new and familiar material to open up the night with. They were a much-needed opener for the night, and they helped to flesh out the night even more, adding a great local piece to an already spectacular lineup.

Chûnk hailed out from Vancouver to perform a no-nonsense hard rock/metal set that brought the old-school sounds to the main stage, and they put on a show worthy of a stadium while being humble and true to themselves.
The kindhearted and multi-talented members of the three-piece metal band made sure to give their all and play their hearts out, and their bassy, riffy sound was focused and sharp. Chûnk are a musical case of being able to see the focus in every line, and the band made sure to perform a set that was highly focused on fine-tuning every sonic element that they had to offer.
A riffy sound made the band exceptionally enjoyable to see and hear on stage, and the communicative efforts of the band make them an absolute must-see without any sense of doubt. Their sharp and highly enjoyable sound is marked through clean riffs, focus, and organization.
The set was incredibly well organized and well performed, with a steady showcase of talent being promptly brought to the stage without having to fool around with mechanics and gear. The band was quick to set up and get the ball rolling; meaning that the music wasn't overly spaced out or slow to start.
Chûnk's entire performance was fun and incredibly enjoyable in every way, and the band's consistently high energy and showcase of teamwork was an inspiring sight to see in person. They're a band with all the right elements and material, and their memorable sound will leave you wanting to see them again if you haven't already.
This longform set made the Chill House the perfect place to be on Thursday - and it's rare to see longer sets played at the venue. The band was able to fill their almost 40-minute slot with all original material that spanned various unique sounds and compositions, and it's clear to see that the catalogue that Chûnk possesses is one that you will want to keep your eyes and ears open for.

A massive thank you goes out to the band for hiring me as their videographer! I cannot be any more grateful to have been able to work with such an exceptional band, and it means the world to me to get more and more traction on something that started as a "why not" hobby of sorts.

Castle brought a great case of female-fronted rock to the Chill House, and the band made sure to give their all for their first time playing in Chilliwack. This stop of their tour was enough to make many people want to see them more than once - and it's clear to see why Castle are such a widely emerging name in the Canadian metal scene.
The band's heavy mix of hard rock and metal was sonically stunning to listen to, and their infectious sound ended the night off with a massive bang. Their heavy sound brought a great amount of energy to the venue while keeping their sound highly in check and consistent, and it was a truly infectious performance.
It was clear to see that the band knows how to put on one hell of a performance, and it was reflected and captured perfectly throughout the band's entire set. It was an incredible feat that made Castle one of the main names to keep on your radar if you're a rock fan in Canada looking for the next big band in your area.An infectious and loud sound made the band stand out, and their energy was completely immersive while creating a great atmosphere and keeping the attention of everyone who was in the crowd. Their fun sound has a deeply potent and piercing level of skill behind it, and it's clear to see that Castle is a band that is made up of well-practiced and seasoned musicians.
Their thumpy, commanding sound made for a great level of energy on the Chill House stage, and it's hard to come across such a unique band in the flesh.
The band's heavy mix of hard rock and metal was sonically stunning to listen to, and their infectious sound ended the night off with a massive bang. The unique band members and lineup made for an incredible show - and it was a set to remember and keep in the books for a lifetime.
