--------------------------------------
Q: What is your role in the band like? Introduce yourself for those who might not know you yet.
A(S):
Brendan AKA Earthson, The Hairy Wizard: I play bass and sing, write a lot of the songs, and make ridiculous social media videos.
Thass, AKA the Technomancer: I make the songs happen.
Thunderbuckets, AKA Chuck: I bang on the drums.
Adam, AKA The Riffcaster General: I cast riffs baby, 24/7!
Q: How would you describe the sound of Circle of Titans? What kind of music does the band specialize in?
A: Heavy, progressive psychedelic metal that rumbles from the mountaintops. We explore an eclectic mix of sounds and specialize in different emotions across the board. We go loud, we go melodic, we go proggy, we go riffy…whatever the song demands.
Q: If you could describe your sound in only ONE word this time, what would that word be?
A: MOUNTAINTOPS
Q: What do you bring to the stage when it comes to performing?
A(S):
Adam: Hot licks, tasty jams, and all the magic, baby!
Brendan: I never forget my wizard hat.
Thass: I bring the light!
Chuck: I bring the THUNDER, and an insatiable urge to dance with the crowd all the time.
Q: What is the most important aspect of performing for you and the band?
A: Dancing to our own music. Being earnest. Letting the crowd know it’s okay to be wild and throw their arms around and flail freely!
Q: What can people expect from your show at the Chill House on Saturday?
A: Fog, damn good riffage, lots of movement and interaction with the crowd, theatrics,
and the best time you've had all decade!
Q: What do you think makes you unique from other bands?
A: We are four different wizards from four different dimensions. We bring our influences together to create our own four-part musical incantation. We work to be purely ourselves, and let the music flow from there.
Q: How long have you been making music for?
A(S):
Thass: My whole life.
Chuck: About 800 years, which converts to something like 23 Earth years.
Adam: Since I was a wee lad on another planet in another dimension, for time immemorial.
Brendan: About 14 years.
Q: Are there any performance-related memories that stand out to you the most? What are some of the most memorable experiences that have come along with performing live for you?
A(S):
Brendan: The first and second nights of the Wacken Metal Battle for me. The feeling of the synergy between us and the crowd will always stick with me.
Chuck: I remember performing one show at Astoria to nobody, and then again at Astoria
(for the Wacken Metal battle) for at least 100. It's awesome, we've experienced both ends of that spectrum but no matter the crowd size we still cast our spells and rock out with the same energy. Venues like Bully's and Lanalou's over the years, we love them to death because they treat us so fuckin well and are always supporting local bands and the music scene. And a special shout out to Grey Lab and Take Your Time, DIY venues that are now gone but not forgotten.
Q: What can people look forward to in the future when it comes to Circle of Titans? Upcoming projects, new music?
A: We’ve got a single called ASCENSION that will be released in the next few months, as well as three other songs we plan to release before the end of the year.
We’ve also got some shows coming up! We’re playing the Chill House in Chilliwack on April 11th (this Saturday!) with Lopsided, Jagerwatt, and Moniker. We’re playing The Biltmore on May 15th with Evan Williams Project and Zack Brannon.
We’ve also got some island dates booked. On July 17th we’ll be playing the Globe Live Studio in Nanaimo with Iron and Rot, Druin, and Hexenbane. Then the next day on July 18th we’ll be playing The Phoenix in Victoria with Heliophage in place of Hexenbane.
Q: Where are you guys local to, and what do you think about performing in Chilliwack?
A(S):
Brendan: I’m local to the Realm Between Worlds, AKA Caledon, Ontario.
Thass: I’m local to FUTURE VANCOUVER, and Thailand.
Adam: A small planet orbiting around the binary star that you Earth folks call Procyon, in Canis Minor. It’s a cool spot to visit, as long as you’ve got at least two grand and a good escape plan.
Chuck: I'm from a village that sits near the border of two very different worlds, separated
by lake and river. Beautiful to visit in the Fall, treacherous during the winter. Better known as the Thousand Islands region of Upstate New York. It hasn't changed much in the past 800 or so years.
As a band, we are local to East Vancouver, Earth, and we couldn’t be more stoked to play in Chilliwack. We’ve heard nothing but great things about the Chill House and the community there and can’t wait to put on a show for you all!
Q: Lastly, what is one piece of advice you would give to any aspiring artists?
A: Stop calling yourself an aspiring artist and just be an artist. Do the weird stuff that makes you you. Bring others into your circle, listen to, and be, an observer of the world, people, art, and culture around you. Give back more than you take. And don't forget you still got to PRACTICE your damn magic!
