--------------------------------------------------------
Q: First and foremost, what is your role in the band like? Introduce yourself for those who may not know you.
A (Ardyn): Hi! my name is Ardyn. I’m 16, and from Chilliwack. I do vocals and second guitar when they need me. I also love to help with songwriting! I think it’s really fun, I like being able to express myself through music. -Ardyn
A (Leah): I’m a 17 year old guitarist from Chilliwack, and the role of lead guitar in lopsided is honestly a lot, but after every show i realize that putting in the work is so worth it to spend time with the band and everyone else at the shows. My role in the band mostly consists of overall management of equipment, planning, practice arrangements, and finances. I try to write originals along with the rest of the band.
A (Darrell): I'm Darrell and in the band I play drums, I try to help with writing and general planning too -Darrell
A (Aeden): I’m Aeden I play bass I help with writing
Q: What is the band's sound like? What genres do you play and specialize in the most?
A: Our sound is pretty versatile, we like to experiment with different genres. We mainly specialize in alternative rock and metal.
Q: How long have you been making music?
A: We’ve been making music together for almost a year now. We started the band last July and wrote our first song Stray in September 2025. We have been creating ever since.
Q: What do you look to bring to the stage while performing alongside Lopsided?
A (Ardyn): I love to bring a lot of confidence and good energy to the stage, I want to make sure everyone is having fun.
A (Leah): As a musician, I still feel very much like a beginner guitarist. Being lead can be super stressful for me, but i feel so proud of the band for how far we’ve come in such a short time. Being a new band, my main focus on stage has mostly just been accuracy, but something I would really like to bring to the stage is a more entertaining presence along with that accuracy.
A (Darrell): I bring the spunk/moxxie
A (Aeden): I look to bring energy when we perform
Q: What is the most important part of performing for you personally?
A (Ardyn) For me, preforming is really important because it helps me manage my anxiety and push myself out my comfort zone. It’s helped me grow more confident and happy with myself. I love making sure other people are having a good time.
A (Leah): The absolute most important part of performing for me is that everyone has fun, safe show. I know that we have an amazing community in the music scene, and i really appreciate those that go out of their way to create such great environments, especially at chill house.
A (Darrell): I think the most important part of performing is putting on a memorable show
A (Aeden): The most important part to me is that people are enjoying the show
Q: How did Lopsided come to be? What was the inspiration behind the band?
A: We were friends-of-friends who didn’t really know each other that well. One night while playing Dead by Daylight, we started talking about music and realized we all had similar influences, like No Doubt. We decided right then to start a band and practice the next day.
Q: If you could only describe your sound with ONE word, what would that word be?
A (Ardyn): Vibrant
A (Leah): Diverse
A (Darrell): Spugmittable
A (Aeden): Energetic
Q: What can people expect from your upcoming show at the Chill House?
A: A lot of energy. It’s gonna be loud and pretty fun. There’s some heavier parts, some more emotional moments, but overall we just want people to enjoy it and feel something.
Q: What sets Lopsided apart from other bands?
A: We didn’t really overthink starting the band, it just kinda happened. We all have different influences, so our sound isn’t stuck in one place. It’s a mix of everything we like, and we just play what feels right.
Q: Who/what are some of your influences and inspirations?
A (Ardyn): My inspirations are Gwen Stefani from No Doubt, and Hayley Williams from Paramore, I grew up with them and just absolutely love the energy they bring to the stage.
A (Leah): Recently I really like using System Of A Down as inspiration while writing, but in the past we’ve taken lots of inspiration from No Doubt as well.
A (Darrell): SOAD, Goldfinger, Bad Religion, Rise Against
A (Aeden): Blink-182, Pixies, The Cure, Joy Division/New Order
Q: Lastly, what is one piece of advice you would give to any aspiring artists out there?
A (Ardyn): Life can be hard, but it is very important you keep pushing through it. Never be afraid to follow your dreams.
A (Leah): If I had any advice for aspiring artists it would be to engage in the community, reach out and get to know as many people as you can. connections are huge in the music scene, and just being active in the community can get you so far. go to those Chill House shows and talk to everyone!
A (Darrell): Don't try to monetize it
A (Aeden): Keep working at making something great ,enjoy the art you make and others in the community
