Collaborative Dutch Trap: Donnie & Joost's 2018 LP 'M Van Marketing'

This bass-filled collaborative between Dutch rappers Donnie and Joost makes for a desk-rattling listening experience, and it's a fun album that is perfect for any fans of Trap or modern rap - especially for those who are looking to branch out into languages other than English when it comes to music.

M Van Marketing is an incredibly enjoyable project that exceeded my expectations by tenfold. As of late, I have been warming up more to Joost's earlier music when he was solely a rapper/YouTuber, and projects like this one showcase a highly enjoyable and high-energy Trap style that is much more enjoyable than you may be led to believe. This is an incredible project to dive into and take a chance on; and it's more than worth its short runtime that is used without any filler or bumper tracks dulling the album down.

This album mixes the individual styles of Donnie and Joost exceptionally well, and it's clear to see throughout the entire project how well the two of them worked together as a musical duo. The way that they consistently bounce off one another throughout the entirety of the album is incredibly enjoyable to listen to, and the resulting album is fun, bouncy, and somewhat silly while still having a polished and incredible sound. 

Both Joost and Donnie have incredibly clear and commanding flows in their deliveries of lyrics that makes listening to them a treat, and the album is constructed with a steady and consistent pace where each track has its own ideas and sounds while being unique and utilizing excellent beats on every track.

This album is not just Trap, it also has elements of Electronic music genres like House as well as varied paces that make it more than just your average Trap album. This isn't an album you will find anywhere else. 

For being one of Joost's first projects musically - this album becomes even more impressive from a technical standpoint. The production of the album is sharp and wildly enjoyable, and the entire album experience is unique and fun in every aspect that is presented throughout. 

The mix of Joost and Donnie's respective, yet similar styles works incredibly well within this album, and this is without a doubt one of the best examples of Joost on a hip-hop project rather than the Dutch Hardcore music that he is known for currently.

Deze basrijke samenwerking tussen de Nederlandse rappers Donnie en Joost zorgt voor een oorverdovende luisterervaring en is een leuk album, perfect voor fans van trap of moderne rap – vooral voor degenen die eens in andere talen dan Engels naar muziek willen luisteren.

M Van Marketing is een ongelooflijk plezierig project dat mijn verwachtingen ruimschoots overtrof. De laatste tijd ben ik steeds meer gecharmeerd geraakt van Joosts eerdere muziek, toen hij nog puur rapper/YouTuber was, en projecten zoals deze laten een zeer aangename en energieke trapstijl zien die veel leuker is dan je misschien zou denken. Dit is een fantastisch project om eens te beluisteren; het is de korte speelduur meer dan waard, zonder opvullende of saaie nummers die het album afzwakken.

Dit album combineert de individuele stijlen van Donnie en Joost uitzonderlijk goed, en het is gedurende het hele project duidelijk te horen hoe goed ze als muzikaal duo hebben samengewerkt. De manier waarop ze gedurende het hele album constant op elkaar inspelen, is ongelooflijk prettig om naar te luisteren. Het resultaat is een leuk, energiek en ietwat gek album, dat tegelijkertijd een gepolijst en fantastisch geluid heeft.

Zowel Joost als Donnie hebben een ongelooflijk heldere en overtuigende flow in hun teksten, wat het luisteren naar hen een genot maakt. Het album is opgebouwd met een gestaag en consistent tempo, waarbij elk nummer zijn eigen ideeën en geluiden heeft, uniek is en op elk nummer uitstekende beats gebruikt.

Dit album is niet zomaar trap; het bevat ook elementen van elektronische muziekgenres zoals house, en de gevarieerde tempo's maken het meer dan zomaar een trapalbum. Dit is een album dat je nergens anders zult vinden.

Voor een van Joosts eerste muzikale projecten is dit album technisch gezien des te indrukwekkender. De productie is scherp en enorm plezierig, en de hele albumervaring is uniek en leuk in elk aspect.

De mix van Joost en Donnie's respectievelijke, maar toch vergelijkbare stijlen werkt ongelooflijk goed op dit album, en dit is zonder twijfel een van Joost's beste voorbeelden van een hiphopproject, in tegenstelling tot de Nederlandse hardcore waar hij momenteel bekend om staat.
