Canadian Punk Legends Hit the Chill House Stage Alongside Motorama, Mad World, and Gnomebody

Wednesday was a sunny day for a punk show, and Dayglo Abortions coming to the Chill House marked a massive achievement and a crowd full of fans from when they were still a brand new band in the scene.

The show was a dose of old-school nostalgia with the bands on the bill blending new and old, and the chatty atmosphere was bustling by the time Dayglo Abortions had taken the stage. It was a booming night that ran until late, and it was an exceptional first stop for the BC Spring Tour with Dayglo Abortions and Motorama.

It was a rare Chill House occurrence of a mainly adult crowd, and the nostalgia factor of the show made it so that an older crowd was pulled in by one of their childhood bands. The resulting show was one with longer sets and a later shutdown time than usual; making for a wild weeknight.

Gnomebody struck the stage with their deeply unique style that blends earthy imagery with bright, upbeat punk - and the result was the perfect opening set that helped to warm the crowd and start the night off with good vibes and positive music full of fun lyrics and incredible stage presence from the members.

Each member has their own unique traits, sound, and style that come together into one exceptional band, and their set was fun and immersive throughout each different song and the style that was presented by the band. The uniqueness of Gnomebody was something that could not be topped throughout the night, and they're a band of down-to-earth individuals; making their music that much more appealing on every level.

The band's sound is loud and punchy, with a great mix of bright punk sounds creating an enlightening atmosphere that drove the crowd even further into the show. Their nonstop set had a deeply high energy sound and performance with a unique and appealing setup, and the band had a clear focus on their sound and making sure that they gave their best throughout their entire performance.

It goes without saying that what makes Gnomebody stand out is their aesthetic, and you won't find another punk band that mixes "gnomecore" elements into their performances, merchandising, and sound. Their set was nonstop and full of energy through sonic elements, and their unique lyrical themes helped to drive their earthy punk aesthetic into high territories.

There was an excellent display of teamwork within the band, with their performance combining group efforts into one excellent final project that was incredibly fun and entertaining to watch. The band made sure to play both familiar and brand new material for one of their first ever sets at the Chill House (with this one being their second), and it's safe to say that they are one off many local bands that you will want to look out for in the Fraser Valley scene. Their unique blend of sounds is something you won't find anywhere else; and they're the perfect opener for any punk show.

Gnomebody ended their set off with their most unique song and their heaviest energy - and they gave their all throughout the entire set that they put on. The time that they were slotted for allowed for them to play a comprehensive set of their songs, and their sound was a perfect match to accompany warm, sunny weather on such a pleasant day in Downtown Chilliwack.

The crowd for Mad World was rowdy, and it’s clear to see what makes their sound so infectious. Their old-school influenced punk sound is heavy and harsh while being mixed with elements of ska punk, and the resulting sound is something entirely infectious.

Being able to see the band again was an absolute treat, and they did not disappoint for their second performance of the year. The band made sure to interact with the crowd throughout their entire set, and they worked to get more momentum into the crowd to bring the energy of the night up steadily.

Mad World provided something a bit harsher in terms of sound for the night, with their heavy sound being immediately recognizable and deeply enjoyable to listen to. Their loud set was incredibly fun and energetic, and it brought even more life into the venue as the second out of four bands for the night.

Old-school influences and sounds met modern themes within Mad World's performance, and their unique songwriting makes for fun and ambitious songs that are best when performed live. It's clear that the band specializes in performing live; and their sound is something that can get any crowd moving.

Mad World are a band with a vocalist who is great at engaging the crowd and pumping up groups of people, and it's clear that every member in the band was meant to be performing. Their fast-paced energy was infectious to every degree, and they made sure to leave a great energy leading up to the headliners of the night.

The band pulled an excited crowd that was incredibly engaged with their performance for its entirety, and the resulting set was one of the biggest highlights of the entire night. Mad World are one of the most exciting ska-laced bands in the local scene, and they always make sure to put on a great show when they're at the chill house

Motorama began the later portion of the night as the co-headliners of the BC Spring Tour of 2026, which is fronted by 80's punk legends Dayglo Abortions. Motorama made sure to put on one of the most energetic and old school sets of the night, and their powerful pre-headliner set was something that made the night truly special on every level.

The band is a great display of old-school punk in action on a modern-day stage, and they made sure that they were giving their all throughout the entirety of their set. The energy that the band had made them immediately infectious, and they were without a doubt one of the biggest highlights of such an exceptional night - even with the massive display of talent that the venue had performing on the stage from the evening onwards.

Motorama are a band that presents a highly commanding live sound, and their fast, angry display of punk music is something that has largely become a lost art when it comes to live music - but not for them. It's a reinvention of live music in the punk scene that stays true to the roots of the music on all fronts, and their set was one of the most authentic punk sets to hit the stage of the Chill House.

Their set was intense and noisy while being made memorable by some of the best drumming that I have seen played within the Chill House. Every instrument was performed to its absolute best potential, and it was clear to see how musically talented and gifted each individual member of the three-piece band truly is.

Motorama put on a performance with their set, with exceptional crowd work and a nonstop arrangement of short songs that brought great energy and life into a longer set than expected. The band's sound is packed full of layers and depth while keeping a consistency and an enjoyable soundscape, and their set did not disappoint.

The sound palate of Motorama's set was entirely nostalgic and energetic, and their angry sound is something that marks the milestones of what all punk bands should strive to achieve.

A band as monumental and influential as Dayglo Abortions performing at the Chill House feels like a massive achievement for the venue, and they drew a deeply nostalgic crowd full of old fans who had seen them during their youth. The result was a great display of community and authentic old-school punk rock - and the band did not disappoint.

Despite the crowd for the band being slightly unsavoury, the band made sure to put on a loud and energetic set that had almost the entire crowd moving. It was mayhem in the Chill House - and it had even the older crowd feeling like teens again with such a deeply sentimental band for many taking the stage.

When a band that has been around for so long is able to put on such an exceptionally high energy and loud set so late at night, you know that they are well worth the attention that they receive. The band's set at the Chill House was full of fire and punk rock rage, and it was one of the most impressive punk sets that has been played at the venue so far.
