A Varied Collaborative Mixtape: Albino Sports, Vol 1.
BRUNZYN, JOOST: ALBINO SPORTS, VOL. 1
SCORE: 70/100
The first (and only) Albino Sports album includes collaborative efforts that are primarily between Brunzyn and Joost, with other artists like Chri$tophe, Apson, and Donnie also being present throughout the album. The messy and highly stylized mixtape is a must for any die-hard fans of Joost - especially those who have a soft spot for his rap-focused music rather than the Gabber music that he has become known for on a much more mainstream level.
Despite the album suffering from some hiccups here and there, the album as a whole is incredibly enjoyable and full of great material that comes together strikingly well - especially for a mixtape. It's hard to find a consistent mixtape in terms of quality, but this is an album that almost makes it and does a great job at everything that was put in to the album as a whole.
Albino Sports, Vol 1. blends various different artists and their respective styles incredibly well while creating something consistent, enjoyable, and full of different energy levels; and it is without a doubt the most comprehensive look at Albino Sports that you can get your hands on.
The production throughout the entire mixtape is highly enjoyable to listen to, and a desirable sound palate is used to amplify the listening experience of the album with a great set of producers working to create an infectious and varied project that never dies down. The composition of the project as a whole is much better than you might expect - especially coming from a mixtape. The rough sound of a mixtape is largely replaced by something that feels like one massive posse cut, and it's an incredible album that is a must for any Trap fans looking for something completely new and unique.
For an introduction to the artists associated with Albino Sports as well as a look at some of Joost's most expressive rap songs, this is the mixtape for you. It's a great look at everyone involved, and it showcases what may almost seem like "too much" at once while never being overpowering or unenjoyable.
Albino Sports, Vol 1. is an incredibly fun album that has a great amount of energy and collaborative efforts from the artists who were working with Albino Sports at the time, and it showcases the label and the respective talent within it exceptionally well. You won't find a project like this anywhere else, and every artist that appears throughout the 15 tracks of the album is worth your while.
