90’s Madness: Rex Manning Day in Chilliwack
Rex Manning Day hit downtown Chilliwack yesterday morning until the early evening, and it was an artist and community driven event influenced by the 90's punk scene as well as alternative fashion, art, and music. The turnout of the event was humble and deeply enjoyable, and after the shopping portion was over, there was an afterparty for fans of live music to attend at Scarecrow Ink, which also included air brush tattoos and 90's-themed flash tattoos for those who love a little bit of spice in their life.
Madam Radical's vendor spot was located inside of Sonic Bark printing, a shop downtown that specializes in printing graphics onto t-shirts and stickers. Her pop-up shop included stickers, purses, jackets, and a custom "grunge station" where she worked to sew patches onto denim jackets as well as to manually distress them. This provided a retro punk look to new denim jackets done professionally and exceptionally well, and the aesthetic of the day was completely unmatched. Bright colours, great vibes, and incredible music made for a great day downtown - and the sunny weather made sure that Rex Manning Day was a pleasant and welcoming experience for everyone involved.
Various different businesses were taking part in sales and festivities throughout the day, and iconic spots like Chilliwax Records and Harvest Café made sure to be in on the promotion for the day.
You won't want to miss out on Rex Manning Day next year if you missed out on the first instalment, and the inspiration that drove the event made for an incredibly welcoming, fun, and freeing experience. It was an incredible day all around, and the promotions at various local businesses were too good to miss out on.
