HOLD THE MUSTARD PRODUCTIONS: Get to Know Killing Twins Before They Hit the Chill House

Killing Twins are bringing their death thrash sound from Vancouver to Chilliwack this Sunday, with their slot for the second instalment of HEAVY METAL MATINEE being one that is sure to smash skulls.

The band has a fast, heavy sound that makes them instant pit-shredders. With complex and quick guitar riffs alongside organized drumming and stunning, guttural vocals making the band immediately stand out from the crowd.

For those who are fans of something a little more drastic, look no further than Killing Twins on the roster for the stacked day at the Chill House, which will run from 3-8PM on Sunday. It's the perfect way to spend the last Sunday of spring break, and there won't be a better place to be on this day.

I was able to speak with founding member Jack/Jaska Esko to get exclusive insight on the band, which you can find below the cut:

-----------------------------------------

Q: First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me! You are helping out greatly. What is your role in the band like? What do you do, and what are your titles?
A:
I founded the band, so my role is mostly writing the music and shaping how we sound. But obviously, I don’t hog all of that because I’m not a greedy fuck lol. My title is just vocalist/guitarist.

Q: What is working in the band like?
A:
It’s amazing. I’ve gained lifelong friends who are going to be the uncles of my children, I get to use my audio engineering expertise, and it’s fun just playing some aggressive death metal and cracking open some Pabst.

Q: What are some of your favorite memories from performing live?
A:
At our first gig, my buddy Ollie was in the crowd, and I had the absolute best stage banter of all time. I asked the crowd, “Do you like your music heavy?” Then I turned the mic to the crowd, and he grabbed it and said, “I like it really heavy!!” That went back and forth three to four times, and it was just absolutely amazing and hilarious.

Q: Have you worked with anyone particularly interesting? Who are some of the most interesting people you have worked with?
A:
I’ve definitely worked with some interesting people, but I don’t really want to throw shade on anyone, so I’m just not going to comment on that lol.

Q: Where do you see the band going in the near future?
A:
Well, I see us hopefully getting a tour organized because we want to tour on our way to a festival we’re playing at. I just have to get in contact with some venues to organize something.

Q: New music? What can we expect?
A:
We’re almost done our album. All we’ve got to do is record guitar for two more songs and vocals for three to four, and then we’re going to drop that shit. We’ll definitely have the album out this year. And our next album is going to be the best of our best. We’ve got some new toys in our inventory, and it’s going to be the most brutal thing a human could hear.

Q: What can people expect from your performance at the Chill House?
A:
People can expect our unrelenting, aggressive music that doesn’t give a single shit about anyone. We always strive to give the best performance of our lives. I always play a gig like it’s going to be my last. And they’re going to run and kill each other in the wall of death.

Q: What do you bring to the stage?
A:
We bring our aggressive style that’s completely unfiltered. We bring the mosh, we bring the rock.

Q: What is most important for you when it comes to performing?
A:
An amazing performance is what matters most. It doesn’t matter if you have shit sound or the best sound—what matters is the performance and the energy.

Q: If you could describe the band in one word, what would it be?
A:
Unfiltered

Q: How did you and the band find your sound? A: It’s just the process of fucking around and finding out. The first thing I wanted to do was make the absolute best music I can. I love my guitar tone, I love my drummer, and my bassist plays bass.

Q: For those who don't know, how would you descibe the band's sound?
A:
I’d say we have a very aggressive thrash-type sound with the energy of early death metal.

Q: Can Chilliwack metalheads expect to see more of you in the future?
A: They absolutely can—hopefully sometime in the summer, and definitely in the fall.

Q: Lastly, what is one piece of advice you would give to any aspiring artists?

A: Don’t listen to other people. No one’s opinion should impact your sound or lyrics. If someone doesn’t like it, tell them to fuck off. It’s like finding your own political opinion—think for yourself and tell everyone else to get bent.
