HOLD THE MUSTARD PRODUCTIONS: Know Before You Go - an Interview with IN THE FLESH

Chilliwack locals IN THE FLESH will be performing at the Chill House this Saturday, with their hardcore Punk sound taking the stage and providing familiar sounds to the Chilliwack music scene. 

IN THE FLESH have become something of a household name in the local Fraser Valley music scene, with their distinct sound and lineup making them an impossible band to miss. Their growth and tiresome efforts in the last year have paid of greatly, and they're always welcomed at the Chill House with an incredible reception being brought their way. 

It's almost impossible to not know about IN THE FLESH if you've been exposed to local Punk music in Chilliwack - but for those who don't know more about the band, you can learn all about them and their musical process in this exclusive interview featured below the cut.

1. For those who haven't heard of you, who are IN THE FLESH?

IN THE FLESH is a Hardcore Punk band from the Fraser Valley, Magnus sings and guitars, Torin bassist and yell, Ashley drums and is the goat.

2. How would you describe your sound and style playing with IN THE FLESH?

The way I like to think of it, imagine if A Day to Remember took from 80's hardcore instead of Blink-182. That's probably the best way I can describe us. 3. What makes IN THE FLESH different from other bands in the local punk scene?

I can't really think of any other groups that fuse Metal, Punk, and Pop Punk the way that we do. It's a pretty unique sound that's pretty easy to get into all things considered. 4. Who are some of your biggest influences and inspirations musically and style-wise?

I would say Descendents is our biggest overall influence, but we also pull influence from Dead Kennedys, Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, among others.

5. What are some of your favorite parts about performing music?

I absolutely love getting the crowd hype and watching how they react to each song. Even our less intense songs (take me to your grave is an example).

6. Do you have any plans for the future musically? If so, what are they?

We want to bring our sound to as many people in the scene as we can and try to get ourselves a solid debut album. something that will age well. something to get people wanting more while having a great crop of tracks to mess with. with this we can also grow a bigger audience! hopefully some more merch as well that'd be pretty cool. 7. If you could describe your sound in one word, what might that word be?

We like to consider our sound somewhat unique, but I'm certain theres many bands who've blended metal and punk together such as we have (although try and find us a band as passionate about the bee movie and Mr Pibb as we are) 8. Lastly, if you could give one piece of advice to any aspiring artists out there, what would that advice be?

Everyone starts somewhere! We're still making our way up slowly into the scene but the best advice we can give is keep grinding and stay passionate about what you do! When life gets you down, use that for inspiration, take all the opportunities you can get to play shows and PRACTICE. Its annoying but it really works
