The Birth of ÆCHOES: 'White Noise' and More on the Band

ÆCHOES: WHITE NOISE

SCORE: 78/100

ÆCHOES' debut album is a unique and creatively driven project that transcends genres, blending Post-Grunge and Metal to create something that carries both a modern flare and an exceptionally nostalgic sound.

The technical skillset that is showcased throughout White Noise is instantaneously noticeable, and the sheer dedication in which the band carried out when creating the concepts and sounds of the album is something wildly impressive. Each song on White Noise provides something new and exciting while still working as a highly structured project at its core, and it's clear to see the vision of the band is going exceptionally well for them at this point into their journey.

Despite ÆCHOES being such a small band as of now, their sound is larger than life and more than ready for the big stage. The instrumental aspects of the album feel as if they were made by a major-label Metal band, and everything comes together as one massive concept that is highly enjoyable to listen to.

White Noise is absolutely packed full of energy from the very moment it starts, and each song rides out to create precious moments of heavy riffs and practiced instrumental prowess. It's an album that reigns in power and creates a heavy divide that is sure to keep listeners engaged throughout its runtime, and each song provides a new spark to keep the entire project deeply interesting and worthwhile.

The blend of more emotionally driven songs alongside heavy, riff-filled tracks is an incredible showcase of the depth and range of ÆCHOES, and it's clear to see that they can do both heavy ballads and headbanging ragers exceptionally well. The changes of pace throughout White Noise provide breaths of fresh air into the album that would not be found otherwise, and it's an impressive feat for a 10-track album to have so much packed into it at once.

Fans of 90's/2000's Post-Grunge are sure to love White Noise, as it draws in various influences and older soundscapes to create a project that feels like the reinvention of an entire era. It's a refreshing sound to hear revisited after a lack of Post-Grunge projects in recent years, and it pays homage to decades of albums that came before it while still being a deeply unique and classifiable project.

It's often that people don't know what to expect from smaller artists like this - but small metal artists are what keep the scene alive. In a world full of stadium artists, the smaller shows and artists that fill those venues are what keep the underground alive, and the underground is truly the heart of the Metal scene. An album like this shows a massive amount of heart and ambition, and being able to watch underground artists rise above themselves and create full-length projects is always one of the most rewarding aspects of working in the music scene to begin with.

This is an album for anyone looking for an underground Metal band to support and listen to, and the overwhelming humbleness of the band as well as their desire to share their process and ideas is something you won't find in a lot of artists. Interacting with smaller bands is an absolutely crucial aspect of the music scene, and it's something that helps keep music alive - without smaller, up-and-coming artists, the scene would never be able to flourish in the way it does.

------------------------------------------------------------------

1. First, what is your role in the band like? Introduce yourself for those who do not know you.

What’s up out there? I’m Alpha — vocalist and co-founder of ÆCHŒS.

2. How did ÆCHŒS start out?

Omega and I have known each other since we were teenagers. Our musical paths crossed again and again over the years, but somehow we never actually worked together. That changed in 2022 when we decided to start a studio project. What began as an experiment quickly turned into something way bigger than we expected — something too powerful to keep hidden from the world.

3. What are some of your inspirations musically?

There are a lot, honestly. The funny thing is that before ÆCHŒS, Omega and I never really talked about the music we listened to. Once we started working together, we realized how many influences we actually share. Bands and artists like Alan Parsons Project, Queen, Ghost, Faith No More, or System Of A Down definitely shaped us in one way or another.

4. What sounds can people expect if they choose to listen to your new album?

WHITE NOISE is basically the soundtrack to our emotions, thoughts, fears, and fantasies. You’ll hear dystopian atmospheres, aggression, love, darkness, massive soundscapes, and melodies that stay in your head. It’s heavy, emotional, cinematic, and unpredictable — there’s something for everyone in there.

5. What are your plans for the near future of the band?

Right now, a full concept album is already in the works, and we’re currently putting together our live line-up. Once the band is complete, we’ll bring WHITE NOISE to the stage and then fully focus on turning the concept album into a live experience.

6. What are some of the things that set ÆCHŒS apart from other bands?

The biggest difference is probably that we genuinely don’t give a damn about trends or expectations. A lot of bands today try to market themselves with stuff like, “If you like band XY, you’ll love us.” To me, that’s boring as hell and usually disappointing anyway. We create what we want to create — without compromise. We love what we do, and if people connect with it, that’s amazing. ÆCHŒS is more than just music to us — it’s a complete artistic vision.

7. How long have you been a musician for?

I’ve been performing live for around 25 years now. I started in youth centers and tiny clubs, and over the years that led to major label deals, European tours, and festival stages.

8. What is the creative process of ÆCHŒS like?

Most concepts start with a random spark from me. Usually I’ll come to Omega with an idea, a mood, or a vision, and if it clicks with him, we dive straight into developing it further. From there, the songwriting begins. We both constantly throw ideas into the process — sometimes more from him, sometimes more from me. The chemistry is just there. We understand each other almost blindly at this point. Like an old married couple.

9. How do you come up with writing songs for the band?

Once we’ve mapped out the concept for an album or EP — and yes, both are already happening — Omega takes care of writing and arranging the music. He sends me the finished instrumentals, and I work on lyrics and vocal demos at home. After that, we meet up in the studio and record everything properly. Usually, there’s barely anything we need to change because we’re creatively on the exact same wavelength.

10. Lastly, what is one piece of advice you would give to any aspiring artists out there?

Be real. Do your own thing and stop chasing trends or approval from others. Your art has to satisfy you first. If it’s honest and authentic, the right people will connect with it naturally.

Thank you so much to Alpha, the co-founder of the band for taking the time to work with me and for being patient, as this project was a long time in the making. Working with smaller artists is something I absolutely adore doing, especially when said artists are from all the way across the globe. Music has no borders, and ÆCHŒS are just one of many exceptional talents I have had the pleasure of working with.
